After the successfully running of the four inaugural Quidditch Australia Development Camps in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia, we are now progressing to the next stage of our journey to the 2018 IQA World Cup.Quidditch Australia will run two official selection camps, one in Victoria in November and one in New South Wales in January 2018, that will serve as the first step in creating the 2018 Dropbears. Applications are now open for the first selection camp, taking place in Melbourne on November 11-12th.Attendance at one of the camps is a requirement for selection to the 2018 IQA World Cup Australian National Team. Applications for camp 1 close 11:59pm October 20th. All applicants must be Quidditch Australia members to be eligible. Applications will be reviewed by the Team Australia Selection Committee, who are tasked with choosing the individuals who will attend each camp. Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 28th of October at the latest.To apply please fill out this form, we look forward to seeing everyone's applications.Good Luck!Photography by Ajantha Abey Quidditch Photography.

QUAFL Team Announcement and Individual Registration

Quidditch Australia is excited to announce the twenty-six teams from five states and territories that will be competing for national glory at this year's QUAFL: Australian Quidditch Championship. Continuing our slow but steady growth from the 23 teams last year, QUAFL is sure to be a truly exciting and intense weekend.
Last year saw Wrackspurt QC from Melbourne, Victoria fend off all competitors to take the victory, but can they do it again?

Registration costs $15pp for Players and $7.5pp for Non-playing Coaches and Managers.

Quidditch Australian Board of Directors Call for Nominations

Quidditch Australia is making a call for nominations for its board of directors as well as a call for motions for special resolutions for the AGM.The term of appointment is two years. Collectively the seven directors are responsible for the good governance of Quidditch Australia – establishing policy, maintaining the association’s finances and other duties necessary for running quidditch in Australia. After their election, the directors of the board will then be able to delegate amongst themselves specific portfolios. Current examples of portfolios include ‘Media & Marketing’, ‘Treasury’, and ‘Gameplay’ although this will be at the discretion of the newly elected board.To nominate yourself for election please fill out this form, ensuring it is:

  • in writing using the prescribed form,
  • certified by the nominee,
  • signed by an authorised representative from two (2) member states or clubs
  • accompanied by a 1-2 page candidate statement
  • sent to secretary@quidditch.org.au by no later than the 2nd November

If the number of nominations received for the board is equal to the number of vacancies to be filled or if there are insufficient nominations received to fill all vacancies on the board, then those nominated shall be declared elected only if approved by the majority of members entitled to vote.Merryn Christian, Alise Fox, and Matthew Ingram will all remain on the board until 2018. There will be four vacancies on the board up for election at the AGM.CONSTITUTIONChanges to the constitution require a Special Resolution, and need to follow the Corporations Act 2001. We’re happy to consider any constitution changes.For reference, the constitution can be found here.Nominations and motions for special resolutions can be emailed to secretary@quidditch.org.au, please have your nominations in no later than the 2nd November.

QUAFL 2017 Team Registration and Timeline

Registration is now open for any team that wishes to compete at QUAFL: Australian Quidditch Championships 2017.Simply fill out this form by October 1st.Any team wishing to compete must be a registered and paid QA member team. There are also a number of additional requirements including minimum certification of team referees and minimum game requirements.
