About:
We as the Burnie Banshees are located in Burnie Tasmania. Currently we are the Quadball Team located in the smallest City or town (though hopefully we won't hold this title for long!). We don't see this as an issue though, as even though our city may not be the biggest, we won't let that stop us on becoming better at the game! Founded in Early 2023 as a hybrid team, we pride ourselves on being a place for all to come and have fun!
As apart of our organisational Structure we are a member team of the Tasmanian University Quadball Club. The Clubs main goals are to provide a welcoming environment for people to come play a fun & inclusive sport. As well as to help expand the Sport of Quadball at all the University of Tasmania's Campus's, which include Hobart, Launceston, Cradle Coast (Burnie) & Rozelle Campuses. The Club also aims to grow the sport at the Australian Maritime college (AMC), which is located in Launceston.
Though the Club is affiliated with TUSA (Tasmanian University Students Association), all teams within the club, including the Burnie Banshees operate as Hybrid Teams, being open to Both Students & Non-Students. Though we like to talk a big game to the Mainland teams, our main goal is to have fun with the game, if we manage to win that's even better but we are focused on providing those that don't normally feel included in sporting spaces (including Nerds, LQBTQ members Exc.) a space to improve their skills, while also having fun and making friends.
As a team, we currently Practice at Oakleigh Park in South Burnie. The Park is just across the railyards from the main city centre, so it is only a short walk from there. The Park has a water fountain & Toilets as well as a BBQ if needed. As the Burnie City Council has been kind enough to let us use the space, we ask that everyone coming not wear Spiked Boots, as to not destroy the Grass.
We hope to grow as a club & we hope to see you on the field (either that be with us or on the other side) soon!
