The Quidditch Australia board has decided to reduce fees for full individual club player memberships to $50 for the 2020 calendar year.

All existing members who already paid full membership fees will receive a partial refund by August 31st. If you do not wish to receive this refund, you can opt out via the short form at the bottom of the page until 11:59 PM August 9th.

All new membership purchases for the remainder of 2020 will be at the new membership price.

This decision was made by the board in response to community concerns that members had not been able to use their membership to play quidditch for a substantial portion of the year, and in the case of Victoria, this is ongoing. Furthermore, we undertook this step as a gesture of good faith to our members, understanding that one of the main appeals and values of quidditch is as an affordable sport, and being conscious of the financial uncertainty many may face and the changed meaning of affordability in the current climate.

Member fees largely pay for insurance which most members are now able to access again through sanctioned trainings and events that are resuming across most of the country, and these insurance costs have not changed under Covid-19. However, Quidditch Australia has saved money from the cancellation of State Shield this year (usually run at a loss). For more information, you can find our full 2019-2020 FY Financial Report and more (including board meeting minutes) under Official Documents

There are no other changes to membership prices expected to be made at this point for 2020, though this may be reassessed if circumstances change dramatically. Players who have not used their membership (i.e. have not attended a sanctioned event) and do not expect to play for the remainder of 2020 are eligible for a full refund if they wish.

To ask for a full refund, or if you have any further questions or concerns, please email treasurer Nicola Gertler at treasurer@quidditchaustralia.org.

The form below is only for use if you wish to opt out of the $10 membership fee refund. You can also access the form here.
