A Note From the Chairperson

Welcome to the March 2026 edition of QA Today!

March has been a steady month for Quadball Australia and fortunately there were no urgent projects that required attention, which let us settle into the year and make plans for what we do next.

As I mentioned in the last note, the Board was working on plans for a Strategic forum. As conversations progressed on that front, we decided that we'd much prefer to get an idea of how all of you are feeling about Australian quadball before hosting a forum. So, our attention is now turned towards developing a community survey. Throughout April, we will be selecting some topics we'd like to hear your thoughts on and developing questions about those topics for a survey. We don't have a set date for when the survey will be released yet, but you can expect to hear more about it over the next month or two.

Another important update from March is that we officially launched our rebrand! Personally, this was a huge step, as it's been something I've wanted for QA since we made the switch from quidditch to quadball. The reception to these changes has been wonderful, and I'm very grateful for all the support.

On a less exciting note, this year's Trans Day of Visibility coincided with the International Olympics Committee's decision to exclude transgender women from the Olympics and reintroduce chromosomal testing for all women athletes. Quadball Australia does not and will never endorse this move. As part of our ongoing commitment to support and uplift trans and gender diverse athletes, we will be making a donation to a relevant organisation and will also be looking to develop a campaign to spotlight our trans and gender diverse community members. The current plan is to have these actions organised in time for Transgender Awareness Week, so stay tuned for more on that front!

Make sure you give this edition a good read over, as there are lots of opportunities to get involved with the community in this one, and thank you, as always, for continuing to support Australian quadball!

We are looking for quadball players based in Aotearoa or currently living in Australia to wear the silver fern on the international stage.

Quadball NZ believes financial barriers shouldn't stop you from representing your country. Up to $1000 NZD of sponsorship and financial assistance are available for students and low-income players.

ANS Staff Wanted

Applications are still open for individuals looking to join the staff crew for the Australian National Squad

Head Coach of the ANS, Tom Russell, is still on the hunt for a squad Manager and an additional Assistant Coach. Both roles offer keen volunteers the opportunity to influence the future of the ANS, with responsibilities varying from hands-on player development through to admin, field booking and budgeting.

If you’re interested in either of these roles, you can fill out an application for Manager or Assistant Coach.

Applications Open - Oceania-Asian Games Committee

The International Quadball Association is seeking Australians to help organise the first ever Oceania-Asian Games

Ideally, the Committee would consist of three volunteers, who would be tasked with things like sourcing affordable accommodation, scheduling transport, and developing an Information Package for the event.

Don’t miss your chance to be involved with this exciting tournament! For more information, you can check out the IQA’s post, the detailed job description document, or head straight to the application form.

Events Bidding Form: Want an AQCC Close to Home?

Quadball Australia is pleased to debut a brand new events bidding form, which aims to put power back into the hands of clubs and players, giving everyone an opportunity to offer a location for the annual Australian Quadball Club Championships

For those unfamiliar with the process, bidding is an opportunity for clubs and states to express interest in hosting Australia's largest quadball event in their city!

The best place to start is by looking over the bidding form and considering if anything local to you might fit the criteria. It might be that you know of a great field, a cool social spot, or even have connections with a local motel. Local councils or sport centres can also be great resources and should be able to offer advice and suggest some options. As you research, collect the info you find and compile it into a document - this will make submitting a bid much easier!

Bidding is open until Tuesday 28th April, and you can view the bidding form itself here.

So… We’ve Rebranded!

After years of development, Quadball Australia is proud to debut our new logo, alongside a detailed brand kit, which includes guides for developing graphics.

Inspired by those who came before her (special shout out to Ajantha Abey!) as well as the self-taught lessons she’s learned along the way, QA’s very own Rebecca Robb decided to take on the ambitious project of developing a brand kit for Quadball Australia.

“The point of a guide like this,” explains Rebecca, “is to keep a record of the media knowledge we’ve gained over the years, and to make it easier for new volunteers to step up and learn.”

Whilst the kit itself is focused on Quadball Australia’s own brand identity, the information within is valuable for anyone looking to develop graphics for their own state or club. Click here to view the kit.
